Former Somali Minister Killed in an Explosion
Former Minister of Defense Muhyadin Mohamed Haji Ibrahim
Muhyadin Mohamed Haji Ibrahim, the former Defense Minister during the government of PM Nuur Adde was today killed in an explosion near the Turkish Embassy at KM4 Junction in Mogadishu.
His family and acquaintances told the media that the explosion resulted from an explosive device that was planted into his car. The deceased was currently the Chairperson of the Central Commission of Kulan Party.
“May Allah rest his soul in eternal peace. The Chairperson of the Central Commission of Kulan Party, Muhyadin Mohamed Haji Ibrahim was killed with explosive device planted into his car,” said the Chairperson of Kulan Party, Abdikadir Mohamed Isman [Barnaamij] who addressed the media.
One more person who was also on board the same vehicle with the former minister was said to have sustained minor injuries and was rushed to Madina Hospital for treatment. The government security forces together with AMISOM troops who have been deployed at the scene of the explosion have picked a few suspects for the blast.
So far, no one claimed to have masterminded this explosion. However, Alshabaab militias who are at war with the government of Somalia have claimed to have perpetrated similar explosions in the past.
Recently, similar explosive attacks have been on the rise in Mogadishu.
