Ethiopia, Somaliland Sign MoU on Postal Cooperation

HARGEISA—– Ethiopia and Somaliland signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on postal cooperation.

The relationship between Ethiopia and Somaliland has been ceaselessly reinforced.

the MoU will help strengthen and expand communications links between the two countries and by the ministers of posts and telecommunication of Ethiopia and Somaliland.

The deal comes after a high level delegation from Ethiopia headed by the minister for posts and telecommunication arrives in Hargeisa on official working trip to Somaliland.

The MoU signed by the two governments  will help facilitate postal exchanges and telecommunications ties between the two nations in the long term.

The two countries will exchange experience, cooperate on manpower training and education, and facilitate postal services and delivery of postal packages between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed issues relating to the fields of post and telecommunications.

Ethiopia and Somaliland agreed to set up joint postal committees in order to set out clearly the details and goals of their cooperation.

Somalia’s postal system was destroyed after the central government was deposed from power in 1991.

Somaliland and Ethiopia enjoy friendly ties on security, trade and combat of terrorism in the region.
