First Fish Expo of Its Kind held in Somaliland-photos

HARGEISA— Somaliland’s Vice President Hon. Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismael on last Tuesday ( December, 8) officially announced open of four day First Somaliland Fish Expo held in the capital.

The major aim of holding such Fish Festival in Somaliland was to give a chance to the country’s industry when it comes to showcasing Somaliland’s Fish laden resources in the sea and its kinds of fish available.

The well organized ceremony in marking the First Fish Festival in Somaliland saw the attendance of the VP, minister, members of the house of parliament, fish industry, ministers from Somali administration in Ethiopia and other guests.

The director General of Fishery ministry Hon. Abdi Guray who made remarks at the event expressed his about about holding the fish expo in Somaliland.

Head of Somaliland piracy has called on the cooperation when it comes to the fight against fish piracy in Somaliland.

Fish firms, the likes of Pontus Marine, Gamuur and Union fish all made clear that they produce fish that is sufficient for domestic consumption and for export.

The commerce minister of Somali adminstration in Ethiopia, Khadar Abdi Ismael expressed interest in buying Somaliland’s fish resources and added that Fish ministry is being created in Jigjiga.
