Somalia reopens embassy in Washignton, USA

WASHINGTON- Somalia has reopened its embassy in Washington after 24 years of shutdown.

Somali ambassador to Washington Hon. Ahmed Isse Awad has expressed his delight over the reopening of Somali embassy in the US.

The ambassador has cited that this is one of the acheivements that Somalia is making in a bid to restablish ties with the United State of America.

He added that Somalia citizens have played a key role in the reopening of its embassy in the US which is important for enhancing bilateral ties between Somalia and the US.

The restablishing of Somali embassy in the US is one of the successe that the Somali gov’t is determined to connect with the International comunity.

In 1991, Somalia closed its embassy in the US after the Central government was overthrown and ushered in a new era of conflict and anarchy from which the country has never fully recovered.
