Somaliland Police Service Release Crime Statistics

HARGEISA— Police headquarters marked the twenty second anniversary of Somaliland Police Service in an event attended by president Silanyo. The commissioner of police Brigadier General Abdillahi Fadal Iman highlighted what the police had done this year.

“The police nabbed 3846 would be illegal migrants and arrested 56 people traffickers of which all have been charged in our law courts with various offences. We have also netted 1780 Oromo tribesmen from Ethiopia and repatriated them to their country. Land feuds have become a thorn in the flesh issue as security is concerned. These have caused death and injury to police officers trying to separate the feuding land owners. In this respect we are thankful to the president for appointing a committee to look into land cases which are very sensitive.” The commissioner informed the president.
He also stated that gangs of youths who walk in groups have become a threat to security of city environs. They have arrested 550 hooligans of whom 450 have been sentenced.
