Somaliland: Hargeisa security to be beefed up amid security alert

Hargeisa – Police in Hargeis are on high alert to prevent disruptions  for the ruling Kulmiye party national conference taking place on Tuesday morning at Mansoor Hotel in Hargeisa.

Somaliland Minister of Interior flanked by police commissionier have made the announcment. Police commissioner Brigadier Gen Abdilahi Iman Fadal says security will be beefed up during the event.

Fadal Iman says a huge police contingent will be deployed at the conference venue at Mansour hotell.

Three presidential contenders shunned the national conference which is about to kick off tomoorrow where the 400 members of central council are due to choose the next presidential candidate of the ruling party.

Some of the traditional leaders have appealed to the president to postpone the conference in a bid to avoid a division.

Minister of Health who hails from Soil Region Mr. Suleiman Isse Ahmed is running for the post of the vice presidetial candidate.

The head of Somaliland Road Authority who hails from Awdal region is also a contender for the running mate.

The incumbent vice president Abdirahman Saylice once again is seeking reelection.

Musa Bihi Abdi, the chairman of Kulmiye party is the only known presidential constestant for the ruling party as far as the allied wing rejected to attend the national conference.

Final preparations are underway at the Mansour Hotel in Hargeisa which the venue set to host the ruling party’s Fifth National confernce.

The allied group have said with loud and clear voice that the convention has been hijacked the Head of State who is supposed to remian nuetral to all contestants have appeared to be siding with a group.
