Somaliland: New Foreign Minister assumes office
HARGEISA– The new Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire assumed office today.
During a special ceremony at Green Plaza today, outgoing Minister Mohamed Bihi Yonis handed over the Ministry to his successor.
The handing over ceremony saw the attendance of ministers, members of the parliament, politicians who held posts in the gov’t, officials from the consulates in Hargeisa, head of anti piracy office and other officials from Somaliland Diaspora agency.
Deputy foreign Minister, Ahmed Adan Kayse has spoken of the tangible progress that the ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation acheived over the years during Mohamed Bihi Yoni’s tenure.
He said that although M. Bihi was in charge of the ministry for quite short time has made tremendous progress by taking the ministry to areas where it did not use to have relations.
Former Minister, Mohamed Bihi has said that he was the only minister from Somaliland who met many presidents and foreign affairs ministers as counterparts and presidents around the world.
Mr. Sa’ad Ali Shire expressed her admiration for Mr Mohamed Bihi Yonis who as she said “led this Ministry with great success over year.”
The new minister of foreign affairs has sent a message to his new staffers at the ministry of foreign affairs that the staffers are due to work alot than other staffers at the ministries.
Turkish and Djibouti counsulars were in attendance.
