Somaliland: House speaker returns home
HARGEISA – House speaker as well as the National Party (Wadani) Hon. Abdirahman Irro has returned home today after completing one month tour to Europe.
Throngs of Wadani supporters as well as Wadani party officials have showed up at Hargeisa airport to welcome their leader home.
He thanked the people who received him and expressed his happiness to return home safely.
He told that his trip to Europe was partyly on vacation and partly on working visit.
He met with Finnish gov’t officials as well as Somaliland diapora community in Finland.
Mr. Irro went on to say that he received an invitation from Dutch parliament and met with Foreign Affairs ministry officials.
He said that he briefed the Dutch officials on the situation on the ground whereby he appealed to increase aid to Somaliland.
He reiterated that youth unemployment is widespread in Somaliland and added that he appealed to impliment job creation projects.
He also stated that he appealed to assist Somaliland on the areas of water and health projects.
He briefed on the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections slated in 2017 as well as the voter registeration which is underway in Somaliland at the moment.
Speaking on the mass cabinet resignations rocked by Silanyo regime, Mr. Irro said that it was heartbreaking to see that more than 10 major ministers to resign.
He noted by saying that the political parties were quite worried on the scenario.
He pointed a finger to the president as being the sole body to end this scenario.
He urged all citizens to observe peace and stability in Somaliland.
