Ethiopia FM says that Somaliland is part and parcel of Somalia
ADDIS ABABA– State Minister on foreign affairs of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia, Dr. Tedros Adhanom has said that Ethiopia sees Somaliland republic as part of Somalia and added that to make an agreement over Somaliland’s case for secession is for Somalians.
The Ethiopian FM made the remarks while in London attending a conference aimed at addressing the growing trade opportunities between Africa and China.
A Somali citizen attending the conference has the opportunity to pose a question on the unity of Somali and Ethiopia’s stance on Somaliland’s secession.
He responded by saying that efforts of Somaliland to break away from Somalia is for Somalian’s to address.
Somaliland broke away from Somalia in 1991 after the country plunged into decades of civil war.
Ethiopia once said that it will not be the first country to recognize Somaliland but wanted to see a brave country in Africa or the world to recognize Somaliland.
