AN ERROR OF JUDGMENT OK: AND REAP THE WHIRLWIND
Had Mr Rayaalle been elected instead of Siilanyo four years ago , we wouldn’t have been in the present mess we are in . The country would not have been under siege as we are now. Our borders would not have been closed to the outside world. Relations with Ethiopia would have been cordial and in the best terms. Our diplomatic mission in Addis Ababa would not have been downgraded.
Our President would not have been refused an official reception at the office at the Prime Minister. Had Mr Rayalle been elected that day , our country would not have been accused of harboring terrorism as we are now( I pay tribute to the new Foreign Minister Mr Yonis who is trying his best sorting out the mess). If we have elected Rayalle instead of Siilanyo , the office of the President would not developed into a family fiefdom .
No Presidents cousin would have been the Minister of Presidency with the power of a Prime Minister. No son in law nick-named Morgan would have lived in the palace abusing power in the name of his father. Had Mr Rayalle been elected that day the nations oil and mineral concessions would not have been sold and resold in the international black market. Legitimate oil companies would not have abandoned the country because of the extortion of the government.
If Mr Rayalle would have returned to the office , Airport and water projects would not have been looted by political cronies of the present regime. If Mr Rayalle would have returned to office , the nation would have been divided into political parties UCID , UDUB and Kulmiye not into clans and sub clans as we are now. If Mr Rayalle was elected again the recent disaster in the municipal elections would not have happened. Fraud , rigging and violence with death toll of more than hundred from Zeila to Erigavo > It was the greatest blow on both the democracy and the psyche of Somaliland.
Rayalle would have conducted a smooth and fair election as he did three occasions on his record. Instead of Siilanyo , if we have elected Mr Rayaale , we would not have been pawns to the Somalia as we are now. We would not have particapted any conference where the title is Somalia and we are invited as a Regional Administeration . We would have remained a proud sovereign nation, whether recognized or unrecognized. If we did not throw out Mr Rayalle khaatumo would not havebeen established under our nose .
We would have been spared all headaches that Ali Khaliif and his team are causing our Government. Mr Rayalle woud have matched the legitimite rights of the dhulbahante people and the need of the Somaliland Government to extend its administration to eastern borders as he did in a political and diplomatic masterstroke with blessings of the international community in the Las Anod incident. Had Mr Rayalle been the president today the second ranking member of his political party would not have been beaten and roughed up under the full glare of the TV cameras in the meeting of his central committee because the president ordered. Saddam Hussein What ? Rayalle refused to let the so called cable business to belong to Djibouti and Lost his best friend Mohamed Aw Saeed due to that .
He wanted the cable bussiness to come through Berbera for the sake of Somaliland . Now look at our picture , we are all afraid of Ismail Omar Guelleh . He is closing borders on us. Calling us terrorists , and every who and who in Somaliland Government is in Djibouti dancing at the wedding of his daughter and nobody could talk about Somaliland and what is happening to it. Mr Siilanyo and his leadership destroyed the proud image of Somaliland and made us shameless and spineless bunch of beggars. What a sad story . If Mr Rayalle would have been elected again the Minister of Presidency would not have shaken Primary School students for lunch money , and peasant subsistence nomads and farmers for their precious two or three goats.
Well , somehow we elected the Siilanyo that we always knew . One of the architects of the Siad Barre Government. The man who failed SNM and who was told not to stand again. The man who refused the creations of the office of Auditor all the time he was the leader and the sole manager of the funds of the liberation struggle. The man who created divisions and mistrust among the ranks of the Mujahiddin . The man who designed civil wars in the early stages of Somaliand .
The man when in opposition was always shouting and calling for the people to storm the presidency and die for me and desteoy for me to be the leader. The man who was against any positive step the country was taking . Against the initiatve off Las Anod . Against al-jaberi finding markets for our live stock in Saudi Arabia . Agaist Jandai Frazei , American Foreign Secretary for Africa visiting Somaliland . Such a man who was so selfish that he named his political party after his son Kulmiye(who himself is a name sake of Hussein Kulmiye a Siyad Barre vice President.) . I always used to wonder how an independent free thinking person would accept to be reduced to belonging to a party named after the son of the leader. I would call that a slave mentality. Well some people are just sheep.
We elected Siilanyo knowing full well who he is . Let Us face it. He publicly conducted a clan conference in Garadag , the topic of the day being how will our clan come to power. At that early time he declared in a unambiguous way that other than his clan members anybody in Kulmiye party is an outsider. Even before he was elected he chartered a very bad course for the nation . In Washington DC radio interview he declared that he was always a federalist and In Buroa he did not agree with the rebirth of Somaliland. Well we elected him .
A German journalist wrote when Hitler was elected that the Germans are now riding a tiger , and whenever you ride a tiger it ultimately eats you . Well what I am saying is different. I believe that everybody is not intelligent . Everybody does not understand in the first minute. For some people it takes years to figure out that 2+2=4. Now most people have woken up. Now the Majority knows that Siilanyo is a bad man and a danger to the nation. Let us throw him out. Let us replace him with a better man. A note of warning: Do not be dubbed by the rumors he is mentally and physically senile and he does not know what is going on . That is hogwash. It is one of his schemes of escaping blame. He is just a bad leader old or young and that is all.
