Somaliland constitution require to be amended to reflect recognition by the international community
Somali-land constitution was written over 15 years ago and the same cannot reflect our present situation which is how to get international recognition from the world family. The circumstances that existed by the time written the constitution does not exist today. If we evaluate and consult with a neutral body, we will conclude that our constitution contains elements which proves and indicates undemocratic that did not influence international recognition for Somali-land and therefore, there is a need to amend the constitution to reflect and look like a constitution that is acceptable internationally.In what ways is the Constitution both democratic and undemocratic. The Constitution certainly created and helps to uphold a democratic nation. It outlines and sets in place a particular democratic government and set of laws. It could be argued, however, that the creation of this document was notably undemocratic. The men who wrote the Constitution were not necessarily elected, but were expected considering on long term agenda and not on short term interest.
We understand that the political parties to be set up in Somali-land should free from religious radicalism as our Islamic religion is based on moderation ideology, prohibition of political parties based either on tribalism or regionalism, but we should allow political parties that have Somali unionist agenda to look like a democratic country that all citizens have equal political participation, as our present one did not facilitate equal parturition. We are part of international community and therefore we should think like the world family. It could true that in the event the unionist parties contests on free and fair election could capture only a tiny percentage, but we cannot prove this tiny percentage of voters unless we test this policy.
Quite frequently observed claims which informs the existences of a big percentage of the society that prefer greater Somalia. Circumstances like us exists many parts of the world, however, there is nowhere in the world that prohibits certain political programmes or agenda which are free from any harmful aspects for the society. In western world, you will witness the existences even for racial segregation principles parties that are allowed to consent for election even though these parties rarely captures a negligible votes. Therefore considering the above realities, our present constitution is against our international recognition being one color democracy A constitution is a set of fundamental principles and rules.
These rules together make up, i.e. constitute, what the entity is. When these principles are written down into a single document or set of legal documents, those documents may be said to embody a written constitution; if they are written down in a single comprehensive document, it is said to embody a codified constitution. Constitutions concern different levels of organizations for sovereign states.
The Constitution of India which containing 444 articles, 22 parts and 118 amendments is the longest written Constitution, while the constitution of United States is the shortest written constitution, as the same contains only 7 articles and 27 amendments. The oldest man made constitution was known as code of Hmmurabi of Babyloina and the Assyrian code existed before BC. in conclusion, only constitution based on true democratic principles and values can influence Somali-land for international recognition. In the mornings, usually we go out from our houses, normally we go and look into the mirror if our body and the style we wear our dress looks perfect and if not, we unusually do the necessary changes prior leaving our houses. Similarly we should amend our constitution to look acceptable internationally to pave the way for the world family recognition.
