Clashes Broke Out Last Night in Qoryoley

Further fighting took place late last night in Qoryoley after it was provoked by armed fighters from Al-Shabaab and attacked a police station belonging to the Somali police force in the district of the Lower Shabelle region.

During the brawl, different weapons were used including AK-47’s with an extreme exchange of gunfire. The precise numbers of those injured are unclear.

Somali government officials with whom Radio Shabelle contacted explained that during the fight with the Al-Shabaab terrorist insurgency, no police officers sustained wounds.

The environment in Qoryoley this morning is reported to be calm with the people moving freely around and public transportation actively working in the town.
