SOMALILAND: Amin Arts Draws a Cartoon on Minister Hersi Shredding Somaliland Constitution

Hargeisa, 13 Feb 2014 (SDN) –The internationally acclaimed Somali cartoonist Amin Amir has intensified his media war against  President Silanyo and Presidency Minister Hirsi Ali by producing a new cartoon depicting Minister Hirsi and House of Elders Speaker Sulaiman Adam shredding Somaliland constitution and laws.

In this caricature Amin Amir touches the current political situation in Somaliland. All the three depicted in this cartoon hail from the same clan.

Here is the translation of the Somali text:

At the left, the president is portrayed as someone sleeping and does not know about the situation in the country. Next to him is the chair of the house of elders ( Guurti)  who is carrying the constriction in his hand. He says “this is the whole constitution of the country. I have left nothing behind. The file of the speaker of the parliament is also included Mr President.” He addresses Hirsi as “Mr. President “.

The man shredding the constitution who is portrayed here as the minister of the presidency says “You are a man that loves his clan. History will reflect on your deeds”.

The head of the house of elders replies “I don’t care about others. Let them go down the drain “
