Mayor of Hargeisa lays the Foundation Stone for a New Bridge

Hargeisa, 20 Dec 2013 (SDN) -The Mayor of Hargeisa city Abdirahman Mohamoud Aideed (Soltelco) has on Thursday laid the foundation stone for a new minor bridge in the city connecting Gacan Libah and Mahmoud Haybe districts.

Presiding over the function Mr. Abdurrahman Solteco, said, “The building of Bridges was essential to develop infrastructure and the government should construct a good and major bridge at a cost of $ 500,000 will be funded mainly by donations from the RAAF an international NGO which is expected to contribute $ 400,000 and through MANHAL foundation, $ 50,000 from the Somaliland Roads Authority and the remaining by the Hargeisa city council.

Besides providing connectivity to the rest of the city, it would also provide connectivity through the bridge once the bridge construction is completed; it would help develop the two districts and would also give a boost to the local economy.

The Mayor of Hargeisa went on to say , “The construction of bridge connecting Gacan Libah and Mahmoud Haybe would help improve the infrastructure and would also help the public during health emergencies as ambulances could then come here,” he said.

The director of MANHAL foundation Mr. Jama Farah Abdilllahi said, “RAAF has in the past funded various social projects and shall continue to do so in the future.
