President congratulates Kenya on its 50th Independence Day celebrations

His Excellency President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud today congratulated the government and people of Kenya on the 50th anniversary of the country’s independence.
His Excellency Mohamed Osman Jawari, Speaker of the Federal Parliament, is representing the government of Somalia at the Jamhuri Day celebrations in Nairobi on 12 December.
The President said: “Today we show solidarity with our Kenyan brothers and sisters on this truly important day. Independence Day is a great moment in the life of any nation and it is a pleasure and a privilege for Somali government representatives to attend Kenya’s 50th anniversary as a proud, independent nation.

We share a brotherly relationship with our friend and neighbour and we remain deeply grateful to Kenya for its support in bringing stability to Somalia as part of AMISOM.”
