Somaliland: President Silanyo Attends Police Day Ceremony-(Listen)

Hargeisa, Nov 03, 2013 (SDN) -Somaliland president Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud Silanyo has on today attended a ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Somaliland police held in police headquarters in Hargeisa. The head of state has urged Somaliland police to increase public safety and to ensure the happiness of the people in a speech he delivered at the ceremony.
President Silanyo expressed his appreciation for the dedication of, “all those police officers who work hard every day, ensuring the safety of the people and the enforcement of law and order.”
He praised the devotion of all police forces across the country and the efforts made by each and every officer.

Somaliland national police was formed on November 3, 1993; three years after Somaliland reinstated its independence from the rest of Somalia.

Currently, Somaliland’s Interior Ministry is the central executive body responsible for public security, prevention and exposure of crimes in the country within the framework of the powers provided by the national legislation.
