8 IDF soldiers killed in Gaza
Gaza June 15, 2024(QJ)-Hamas fighters killed 8 Israeli soldiers traveling in military vehicles in Rafah after launching rockets and then ambushing the reinforcement troops deployed to the area.
The Saturday attacks were among the deadliest days for Israeli soldiers in Gaza in months as the ground offensive in the southern region intensified.
The Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, issued a statement claiming that their fighters “carried out an ambush targeting enemy vehicles” in the Saud neighborhood of Tal al-Sultan district, west of Rafah city.
In a statement, the Israeli military confirmed that eight soldiers were “killed in operations in southern Gaza,” without providing further details. Daniel Hagari, an Israeli military spokesperson, said an investigation would be launched to determine the exact circumstances of the attack.
The number of Israeli soldiers killed in the conflict since the ground offensive in Gaza began on October 27 remains largely unknown.
