DOHA (QJ) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke [after a meeting with Qatar’s Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha] about the peace settlement in Gaza.
He stated that the potential resettlement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to other countries in the region, instead of implementing a two-state solution, would only create a time bomb in the Israel-Palestine peace process.
He warned that such actions could lead to tragic consequences, as the establishment of a Palestinian state is a key issue.
Lavrov emphasized that undermining UN Security Council decisions and replacing the creation of a Palestinian state with the resettlement of Palestinians in the region would have very negative outcomes.
In short, this was Lavrov’s response to Donald Trump’s idea of resettling Palestinians away from their lands. Lavrov also expressed concern over Israel’s actions, which he believes are hindering the peace process in the region.
